Australian Day & Lunar New Year 2012

Melbourne, January 2012

Melbourne has plenty on offer to see in January 2012. There is definitely something fun for everyone here.

Lunar New Year, 23 January 2012
Lunar or Chinese New Year falls on January 23 this year. On 22 January night, Melbourne’s Chinatown came alive with beating drums, firecrackers, lion and dragon dances, kung fu demonstrations, and great food.

We went down to enjoy the spectacle and join the thousands of people from diverse backgrounds who came to celebrate Lunar New Year.

Australia Day, 26 January 2012
Australia Day in Melbourne is a day for people to celebrate the things we love about Australia.

It's summer holiday time !
This time we're making Queenscliff - Sorento trip.

Nice view from wheel

Walking around the old city of Queenscliff. Queenscliff town's main street is lined with shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants and also shows off some of the area's highlights.

That is Vue Grande hotel was built in 1883....

Rara was exploring a Christmas tree...

It's nice to have ice cream in a hot day.. The scandinavian ice cream... yummy....

After walked around the town, we caught a ferry to Sorento.
The Queenscliff Sorento Ferry service running between Melbourne's most magnificent coastal region : Ballerine Peninsula and Mornington Peninsula.

After lunch, Rara found a nice seat to sit on the top of the hill and ate ice cream

On the way back home, we went to Frankston Beach.
